eBay Raises Affiliate Commissions on the Low End

Beginning July 1, 2006 eBay will raise affiliate commissions on the low end.  I can’t tell if the move is revenue neutral - only eBay knows, but what is apparent is that they are very interesting in driving interest in their affiliate program with people new to the program.  New affiliates driving $100 - $999.99 in fee revenue winning bids can earn 50% of the fees.  This is up from 40% prior to the new rate schedule becoming effective.


eBay Developers Program: Congratulations to the Winners of the eBay Developer Challenge 2006

eBay has announced the winners of their Developer’s Contest. The grand prize went to Unwired, an auction tracking and last minute bidding application but my vote goes to the first place winner, ctxbay. ctxbay displays contextual eBay listings in the same way that Google delivers Adsense to your website. It’s not a standalone application that you install on your site though - they deliver the results using JavaScript.

Affiliate Success: eBay Core Function Demo

Here is an example of using the core Affiliate Success: eBay calls in a blog posting. This call is a custom search for “ipod mini green 4gb”. I chose not to search in the auction description to reduce the false hits. People selling 4GB minis will title the auction thusly. Also, I set the auctionAge to short and I set the cache to 30 seconds to illustrate the change rate. In reality the change rate of this search often approaches hours…
