Hi Bob,

I haven't installed ASE for quite a while and my knowledge of how to do so has gotten a bit rusty, so I'm probably doing something wrong.

I've been trying to install the new version onto this domain:

http://kettlebells.orangedevil.net/ase/install/

I've followed the directions in the user guide and set the permissions for the directories. But I get the following error:

"Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@kettlebells.orangedevil.net and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

I must be doing something wrong. Help!!

If you need my server user id and pw, let me know and I'll PM the info to you.

Steve

Hey Steve,

Where you been hiding?  Some servers are a little weird with permissions.  I used to have a host that would freak out for no apparent reason and throw errors exactly like that, but they had a permissions cleanup script that would sweep in behind the error and fix the problem.  I pinned it down to a group masking problem.  Obviously they did too - hence the script.  This host doesn't seem to have that piece of the pie though... Of course, that may not be the problem at all.

You can try a 644 on that directory (apply recursively) and see if the error goes away.  It probably won't though.  I'll likely need to see the error log.  You can send me the log from that dir or email me the FTP info for the host and I'll have a look.
